The collaboration song 'APT' by Rosé and Bruno Mars, making K-pop history, is now caught in a plagiarism controversy:

The song in question, resembling 'APT,' is 'Sorry, I Can't Be a Good Kid' by Japanese singer-songwriter Mikun Sawai, released on November 13, 2013. It gained popularity in Japan, peaking at No. 37 on the Oricon chart.

Listeners noted similarities in the main melody at the 40-second mark of 'Sorry, I Can't Be a Good Kid' and the 33-second mark of 'APT.' Adjusting the tempo of 'APT' to match "Sorry, I Can't Be a Good Kid" highlighted the resemblance.

Mikun Sawai's 'Sorry, I Can't Be a Good Kid' is a lively dance song reflecting the rebellious spirit of teenagers. Despite different intros, the main melodies, which are crucial parts of both songs, have sparked controversy, with many saying they are "too similar." 'APT' was composed by Bruno Mars, Rosé, Rock City, and Circuit, among others.

Listeners noted that the melodies felt familiar and commented on the potential plagiarism issues. One listener mentioned that Rosé used a problematic melody, and the hook part is so commonly used that it is difficult to determine the original creator. They suggested that using pre-existing melodies can be considered plagiarism, whether intentional or not.

As debates continue, 'APT' surpassed 100 million views on its music video within five days and topped the U.S. Spotify chart. It entered the UK Official Chart’s Top 100 at No. 4 and is expected to rank high on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Bruno Mars posted on Instagram, expressing gratitude to Korean fans after 'APT' reached No. 1 on the Mnet music show "M Countdown." He thanked them for their support and shared his emotional reaction to the song's success.
