NewJeans’ Hanni Reported as an Illegal Resident, Could She Be Forced to Leave Korea?
Reports have emerged that NewJeans’ Hanni may be facing deportation after being reported as an illegal resident.
On December 20, sources revealed that an individual known as “A” filed a report with the Ministry of Justice’s Immigration and Foreign Policy Headquarters, titled “Application for Deportation of Illegal Resident Phạm Ngọc Hân (Hanni’s real name).”

Hanni, who holds dual citizenship from Australia and Vietnam, initially obtained her visa through an exclusive contract with ADOR. However, after NewJeans announced the termination of their contract with ADOR on November 29, questions arose about the validity of her visa.
The report by “A” claims that Hanni should have surrendered her alien registration card and left Korea within 15 days of the contract termination.
These allegations, however, are unverified. Under E-6 visa regulations, while changes in employment must be reported within 15 days, individuals are allowed to stay in Korea for up to 30 days to process visa modifications.
ADOR responded by stating, “The exclusive contract with NewJeans is still valid, and we are currently preparing documents for Hanni’s visa extension as per the procedures.”
Furthermore, since ADOR has filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court to confirm the validity of their contract with NewJeans, her visa may remain valid until the court issues a final ruling.
On December 14, NewJeans launched a new channel called jeanzforfree to engage with fans. ADOR expressed concerns, stating, “We are receiving inquiries and complaints from third parties, including advertisers, regarding the account and its content.”
The situation remains under scrutiny as fans and industry insiders await further developments.
