NewJeans Members Reflect and Tear Up on Christmas Morning: 'Still Healing from Wounds':

On December 25th, the five members of NewJeans—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—appeared as guests on CBS Standard FM’s “Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show.” This was their first talk show appearance since announcing their separation from their agency ADOR. Interestingly, the program introduced each member individually by name, rather than as “NewJeans.”

The discussion began with the members' involvement in pre-paid donations for attendees of a protest calling for President Yoon Suk-yeol’s impeachment. When asked about their motivations, Danielle shared, “The weather was so cold; I wanted everyone to have a warm meal and share warm moments. It was something I really wanted to do.”

Minji added, “We donated 520 meals. Seeing Bunnies (our fandom) take pictures together and share the meals made me proud. It felt good to help people facing tough times at the end of the year.” Haerin also noted, “Bunnies loved it, and we ensured non-fans could enjoy the meals too. It made me very happy.”

The pre-recorded broadcast included a segment on their Christmas plans. Hanni mentioned, “We always play the ‘manito game’ among the members. It’s our tradition. This year, we’ve already picked a manito and prepared gifts.”

During the show, Hanni performed a self-composed song live. After her performance, she explained, “We were all going through a tough time together. Please understand if we cry,” as she shed tears. Hyein, moved by Hanni's emotions, also broke into tears.

Hanni continued, “I still want to express everything. I often play the guitar, and songwriting comes naturally. But each time I sing this song, I end up crying because the wounds haven’t healed yet.”

Danielle reflected, “I’ve grown much closer to the members. Even with our busy schedules, sharing meals and conversations made us feel more like family. Those small moments brought me happiness.”

Minji, when asked about their hopes for the upcoming year, said, “Every moment on stage this year was unforgettable. For next year, I hope for a time when neither I nor anyone else has to endure pain.”
